Avataq salvaged an important collection at St. Edmonds Anglican Church in Kuujjuarapik in an operation financed by the Quebec Department of Culture and Communication and the Canadian Department of Indian and Northern Affairs. The collection had fallen into disrepair as a result of being stored for a number of years in poor conditions at the historic church, which dates from the 1870s. Currently, a large portion of the collection is undergoing restoration and will soon be returned to Kuujjuarapik, where the artifacts will be on display at the new parish church erected in 2005.
The Corporation of the Northern Village of Kuujjuarapik has its own collection of various art and artifacts from the community and its surroundings. The pieces are displayed at the municipal offices. The corporation has approached Avataq Cultural Institute with the idea of carrying out some conservation work and ensuring the proper development of the collection.
