The Inuktitut version of Tusarnituuq! Nagano in the land of the Inuit airs on APTN this Friday, January 8th, also at 2pm EST/CST in the Voices of the Land documentary slot.
All of us at Avataq Cultural Institute were deeply saddened by the sudden death on October 10th of Emily Novalinga, a true pioneer in the world of Nunavimmiut poetry.
At the invitation of CERPECA and its director, Prof. Jacques-Guy Petit, representatives of the Avataq Cultural Institute participated in an international symposium (Cree and Inuit in northern Quebec – land, economy, society and culture), held from October 21 to 24 at Université d’Angers, in France.
Inuit ages 16 and up are invited to audition for the movie “On the Ice”, a feature film with all Inuit cast which will be filmed in Alaska (Barrow), in April 2010.
Avataq Cultural Institute hosted the 18th Nunavik Inuit Elders’ Conference in the community of Salluit, August 31st – September 4th, 2009.
