Newly Elected Board of Directors for Avataq

Avataq Cultural Institute hosted the 18th Nunavik Inuit Elders’ Conference in the community of Salluit, August 31st – September 4th, 2009. The theme of the conference was ‘Youth, Arts and Culture’ and more than 40 youth, elders and other community delegates were in attendance from across Nunavik.
Elections for the Avataq board of directors took place on September 4th, with the following results:
President:
Charlie Arngak – Kangiqsujuaq (acclaimed)
Vice-President:
Salomonie Alayco – Akulivik
Secretary -Treasurer:
Jeannie Nungak – Kangirsuk
Board Member:
Isaacie Padlayat – Salluit
Board Member:
Minnie Etidloie – Kangiqsujuaq
