Avataq Cultural Institute is a non-profit organization, created in 1980, dedicated to protecting and promoting the Language and Culture of the Inuit of Nunavik. The organization has its head office in Inukjuak, Nunavik, and an administrative office in Westmount, Québec.

AVATAQ is currently seeking a candidate for the following position: Local Cultural Committees Program Officer

Reporting to the Local Cultural Committees Regional Coordinator and working in collaboration with the Nunavik Elder's Committee (KRG), the Program Officer will implement in the 15 Nunavik communities computer resources for elders (NECUP PROGRAM) and assist the Regional Coordinator in the development of the Local Cultural Committees.

Tasks and responsibilities:

- Plan, implement and follow up on the NECUP Program;

- In conjunction with the Elders and the Local Cultural Committees, conduct needs analysis in each community;

- Give information sessions on the NECUP program in the communities;

- Train the person in charge of the computer material in each community;

- Find and train young volunteers to help elders to learn how to use their computers and softwares;

- Work in conjunction with the Regional Coordinator to develop projects for the Local Cultural Committees;

- Type and file correspondence, reports and other material;

- Perform other related tasks.

Job requirements:

- Three to five years of experience in program management in Nunavik;

- College diploma in Humanities and Social Sciences or relevant experience;

- Knowledge of computers, word processing, spreadsheet and communication software (Skype);

- Master of Inuktitut spoken and written. Fluency in English and French is a definite asset;

- Good communicational skills and team player;

- Training skills.

Additional information:

- Working schedule: 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday (35 hours/week);

- Salary: $27.50/hr;

- Location: Montréal or Nunavik. The successful candidate will travel at least six (6) times a year in Nunavik;

- Duration of the contract: three (3) years;
