The Avataq Cultural Institute receives the 2017 Rights and Freedoms Award

Westmount, December 11, 2017 - The Avataq Cultural Institute is one of eight winners of the Rights and Freedoms Award from the Quebec Commission for Human and Youth Rights. This year, to mark the 10th anniversary of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, the prize was awarded to eight initiatives that have worked to support the rights of indigenous peoples in Quebec.

22nd Nunavik Inuit Elders Conference

The 22nd Nunavik Inuit Elders Conference was held in Kuujjuaraapik from September 19 to 21, 2017. Thirty delegates from the fourteen Inuit communities in Nunavik, as well as Chisasibi, attended the event.

Westmount, le 26 septembre 2017 – Une élection a été tenue le 21 septembre dernier lors de la Conférence des aînés Inuits du Nunavik, à Kuujjuaraapik, afin de définir le nouveau conseil d’administration d’Avataq. À tous les deux ans, les délégués présents à la Conférence, formés d’un représentant de chaque communauté et des comités culturels locaux, votent pour la composition du nouveau conseil d’administration.
