OSM Nunavik Tour

In Spring 2007, Avataq Cultural Institute and the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal began discussions around a Nunavik Tour. It is the express wish of musical director Maestro Kent Nagano to bring the music of the OSM to several remote Inuit communities in Nunavik as part of its touring activities.

Umiaq Skin Boat Premieres at Hot Docs Film Festival in April

In summer 2007 the Pukkik Cultural Group of Inukjuak, which was established to preserve Inuit culture and language at the community level, embarked on an ambitious project to build the first umiaq, or traditional seal skin boat, their community has seen in 50 years.
