Avataq Cultural Institute is a non-profit organization, created in 1980, dedicated to protecting and promoting the Language and Culture of the Inuit of Nunavik (Northern Quebec). The organization has its head office in Inukjuak, Nunavik, and an administrative office in Westmount, Québec.
AVATAQ is currently seeking a professional candidate for the following position: Oral history archives assistant (temporary contract work).
Reporting to the Director of the Research, Archives and Documentation, the candidate will be responsible for the indexing of recordings of the oral history archives and will take care of some technical aspects of the FileMakerPro inventory.
Job requirements:
- Three years of experience in a relevant domain;
- Secondary 5 or equivalent, archivistic training an asset;
- Strong knowledge of Inuktitut an asset;
- English and/or French speaking and writing a requirement;
- Data bases software (FileMaker Pro) knowledge an important asset;
- Interest in Inuit history and culture is an essential asset;
- Punctual, responsible and reliable.
- Working schedule: 9am to 5pm, three days per week (21 hours/week) until March 31, 2016;
- Salary: $20.00/hr or according to experience and education;
- Location of work: Westmount Office;
