This is a significant collection of works of art and objects of material culture, which dates back to the late 1980s, when the Department of Indian and Northern Affairs Canada turned over to Avataq a large collection of sculptures produced in Nunavik between 1950 and 1980, stone-cut prints and other works on paper from the 1960s and ‘70s, utilitarian objects bearing witness to Inuit culture from 1960 to 1975, and some reproductions of traditional objects.
