Coordinator for Aumaaggiivik – Nunavik Arts Secretariat

Avataq Cultural Institute is a non-profit organization, created in 1980, dedicated to protecting and promoting the Language and Culture of the Inuit of Nunavik (Northern Quebec). The organization has its head office in Inukjuak, Nunavik, and an administrative office in Westmount, Québec.

AVATAQ is currently seeking a professional and dynamic candidate for the following position: Coordinator for Aumaaggiivik – Nunavik Arts Secretariat.

The Coordinator maintains activities of the Secretariat, contacts Nunavik artists, and manages the grant programs and promotional activities for Nunavik artists:

- Receive and evaluate the grant programs applications;

- Make sure the applications meet the grant programs requirements, and follow up on application and grant reports with artists;

- Support artists in applications and portfolio preparation;

- Writebiographies and document artists’ productions;

- Promote the Secretariat’s grant programs as well as programs from governmental organizations;

- Write press releases;

- Write articles and newsletters on artists and art in Nunavik;

- Manage and feed the Facebook page and any other social networks of Aumaaggiivik

- Develop new activities for Nunavik arts;

- Write requests for funding for the Secretariat’s projects;

- Make reports and budgets;

- Participatein juryorganization;

- Develop and consolidate with dynamism the network around Aumaaggiivik.

Jobrequirements:

- Degree in Management, Communication and/or Art, Art History or equivalent;

- Five (5) years of experience in program management or relevant domain;

- Experience in public relations and press;

- Knowledge of computers, word processing, spreadsheet and social networking;

- Cultural understanding of issues related to the Art domains (definition, training, practice, market & emerging trends) for the Nunavik;

- Experience in supervising staff, volunteers;

- Experience in Nordic environment is an asset;

- Bilingual English-French, knowledge of Inuktitut is an asset;

- Strong writing skills;

- Budget managementskills;

- Organizedanddetail oriented;

- Punctuality, autonomy and leadership;

- Willing to travelin Nunavikand elsewherefor staysthat can extendup to two weeks;

- Good communicational skills and team player.

Additional information:

- Working schedule: 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday (35 hours/week);

- Location: Westmount Office;
